This privacy policy explains how the mobile app "German Citizenship Test" (Einbürgerungstest, "the App") handles your data. The App helps you prepare for the official German naturalization test ("Leben in Deutschland").

Summary

• The App works offline. There is no account and no login.
• Your learning progress (answered questions, bookmarks, mock-exam history, streaks, language and state settings) is stored only on your device.
• We use anonymous product analytics to understand how the App is used and to improve it. This does not include your name, email, or any contact details.
• We do not sell your data, do not show ads, and do not track you across other apps or websites.

Data stored on your device only

All of your study data is saved locally on your device using the operating system's standard storage (AsyncStorage). This includes which questions you have answered, correct/incorrect results, bookmarked and wrong-answer questions, mock exam history, daily streak, and your chosen interface language and federal state.

This data never leaves your device through us. It is removed when you delete the App or use the "Reset" options inside the App. We have no access to it.

Anonymous analytics

To improve the App, we use PostHog, a product-analytics service, hosted in the European Union (eu.i.posthog.com). PostHog records a small number of anonymous usage events:

• when the interface language is changed,
• when a federal state is selected,
• when a mock exam is started, and
• when a mock exam is completed (including the score, total questions, pass/fail, and time spent).

These events are linked only to a randomly generated, anonymous identifier for your installation. They contain no personal data (no name, email address, phone number, or precise location). We use this data solely for our own analytics and to improve the App. It is not used for advertising and is not shared for cross-app or cross-site tracking, so no App Tracking Transparency permission is requested.

Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)): our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the App. Because the data is anonymous, it cannot be associated with you as an individual.

Data we do NOT collect

We do not collect contact information, health or financial data, precise location, photos, contacts, or any device advertising identifier.

Data retention

Local data remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Anonymous analytics events are retained by PostHog according to our project configuration and are not tied to your identity.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and objection. Because the analytics data is anonymous and we hold no personal identifiers, we generally cannot link analytics events to you. For any request or question, contact hi@enokkim.com.

Children

The App is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
